K, G

Made with the back of the tongue, these sounds are known as Velar Sounds.

Typical age of clear speech for these sounds: 3 years old.

K and G are another a set of paired sounds. Both require the back of the tongue to push up against the roof of the mouth, while the tip of the tongue stays down (a tongue mountain).

K is voiceless, being made with only the air moving through your throat and mouth.

G is made with your voice and your mouth movements combined.

"Greg and his Gecko Go Kayaking" is the book from P.A.C.B. that targets these sounds.

Greg and his gecko want to go Kayaking

Kai's name means ocean but he has never seen it.

First, they need to create a kayak for Kai.

They will try rocks and paper but they don't work.

Greg and his gecko build a kayak of sticks.

Once they are glued together Kai sees the ocean

Oh my, this is great fun!

Kai sees a shark and an octopus who has 8

legs called tentacles - maybe they're more like arms?

Then they see under the kayak and the water

a living rock-like creature called coral.

Kai can't take anymore rocking kayak time.

He feels seasick, so their adventure is done.
