Blended Sounds & Digraphs

Blended sounds and Digraphs are some of the latest developing sounds, frequently not produced clearly until age 5-6.

Some blended sounds include: st, cr, tr, st, fl, sp, and more. Essentially, a blended sound is when two consonants are next to each other, creating their own unique blend of mouth movements and sounds.

Digraphs are when two consonants come together but make only one sound, such as: ch, sh, th.
